Lockheed Martin Chief Executive Officer Robert Stevens announced that Egypt may get new 24 F-16 to replace aging fighters.
Well, The mig 21s need to be replaced, those are in active duty since 1968, they need to be replaced soon.
I hope they are still thinking about the Russian offer of a mix of Mig-29-smt & SU-35, that would be a great step forward for the Egyptian air force, decreasing dependence on USA on one hand, acquiring more advanced fighters (gen 4+) & BVE AA missiles on the other hand which USA did not accept to sell Egypt (F-15, Amraam)
The only advantage for a new patch of F-16, is that we get them for free :)

Opel, a Russian/Canadian brand ?
Yes, GM sold 55% of Opel today to the Canadian auto-maker magna international & Russian state controlled bank Sberbank 20% and 35% respectively while keeping 35 % of Opel stacks, giving 10% to its employees giving Russian/Canadian consortium a majority.
That deal is great news for Russia, owning a top car brand as well as boosting its car manufacturing ability through car maker Gaz which will produce Opels for the Russian & Eastern Europe markets.
I wonder if russian built opels will be cheaper since russian workers are surely paid less than german ones.

"Alhurra is Bleeding Viewers" they should have seen it coming !
Looks like USA made a mistake when they thought they can brainwash Arab minds with a stream of Arabic/English songs and some news in between. It is really stupid to try to entertain people and provide news for them on one hand, and on the other hand, you sent bombers and tanks searching for WMDs that does not exist while destroying the country, killing its people in the process & providing a fertile land for different parties fighting to control its ruins killing more of its people.
Of course people are not going to prefer Alhurra on other news sources, i would rather follow a governament controled news source rather than a forgien's gov. controled news source.
I remember when i was in Alexandria 2 years ago, only AM was available there, FM was so weak, you can not easily tune it, anyway, Alhurra radio broadcast channel was the best quality of them, it was the first time i listen to it, and it was hilarious, i could not stop laughing whenever i heard the news, no really, who are they kidding ?, Most of the news were on Iraq of course, but the funny thing, all the news are told in a way that pictures USA as the gaurding angel of Iraq, blaming all the instability going there on those bad "terrorists" running around carrying guns, i wonder why did not we hear about terrorists killing people there when saddam was in charge, do not get me wrong, i did not like saddam, but i do not like USA occupation of Iraq either.

Guantanamo's USA to Egypt "show some respect for human rights" yea, right !!
"It is in Egypt's interest to show more respect for human rights" Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Thursday.
We have a quote for that particular situation in Egypt, it is called "The carpenter's door is broken".
Although i - as an Egyptian - refuse a foreign party to tell me what is in my interest and what is not, it wont be the first time that same party interfere in our internal problems. Anyway, they are right, the Gov. and the people ( yes, and the people ) should show some respect for human rights.
But that is our problem, we know it exist, and we are fighting for it, so when they come and tell you, hey, it is in your interest to show some respect to human rights, you go like, "oh really ?, did not know that!", especially when this advice comes from a party that is currently linked to successive human rights scandals in its so called "war on terror", they legislated torture for god's sake, at least work out your problems first, then advice other countries to solve those very same problems, not vice versa.
